90's Kids Stuff

Your source for all things 1990's

Adam Sandler, Tom Hanks, Jodie Foster, and other great actors/actresses from 1990’s

It is time for a countdown of some great actors and actresses, and some of my favorites from the 1990’s. We have some on the list who were good in mostly dramatic roles, and others who usually provided knee-slapping moments in great comedies. There are also some who were a dual threat, acting in both dramas and comedies. Now that is truly a testament of a tremendous actor. Well, no use in prolonging this little introduction. Here we go!

10. Tim Allen

Notable movies from 90’s: The Santa Clause, Toy Story, Toy Story 2

Allen may have been mostly known in the 90’s for his role on the television show “Home Improvement”, but he was also a decent movie actor. The Santa Clause was a movie franchise that just got worse and worse with each movie. The Toy Story trilogy, you could argue, has worked in the exact opposite way.

9. Kathy Bates

Notable movies from 90’s: Misery, Titanic, The Waterboy

While not the most attractive lady in the world, Bates still gave an amazing performance in Stephen King’s “Misery”. She was definitely one of the best movie villains of the 1990’s, and a fairly unsuspected one at that. Her roles in Titanic and The Waterboy were much less prominent, but she showed great versatility in these three movies. She was a villain in Misery. A fairly minor character, but dramatic nonetheless in Titanic, and very funny in the Adam Sandler comedy, The Waterboy.

8. Joe Pesci

Notable movies from 90’s: Goodfellas, Home Alone, JFK, Home Alone 2

Pesci seems to always play a similar role in all of his movies. He is typically some sort of mobster, or criminal, and he plays those characters extremely well. Whether it be as a more serious character like in Goodfellas and JFK, or a funnier one like in both Home Alones, Pesci always plays his character very well.

7. Jim Carrey

Notable movies from 90’s: Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Liar Liar, The Truman Show

Carrey’s movie career has kind of been struggling in the 2000’s and 2010’s. I’d say that the only solid movie he was in during the 2000’s was Bruce Almighty, and maybe How the Grinch Stole Christmas. However, he was in a lot of very good movies during the 90’s. Sometimes he is a little bit too much to handle, and might over do it, but for the most part, I feel he is deserving of the number seven spot. By the way, how hot is Cameron Diaz in this movie? She narrowly missed making this list.

6. Mike Myers

Notable movies from 90’s: Wayne’s World, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Austin Powers

Another guy who has not had the greatest movies recently but was solid during the 90’s. With the most recent Shrek movies, and flicks like The Love Guru, and The Cat in the Hat, Myers is definitely not at his best right now. However, I have heard news that there might be an Austin Powers 4! Usually when a movie franchise gets this far, they start losing steam, but I think that Austin Powers 3 was arguably the best one. We shall see.

What’s this? Where are numbers one through five? Well, using the suggestion of the very intelligent Kyle Belanger, I have decided to reveal the remaining five people in future posts. Don’t worry, you won’t have to wait long, but I feel that it will create more drama if with the top five, I write longer, more detailed posts on the actors/actresses. Have suggestions on who should make the top five? We’ll see if you can name any of my top five. Next post will be either tomorrow or Friday!
